Introduction

This project, motivated by the concepts of swarm production and swarm intelligence in the digital society, encompasses two sub-projects: The Innovative Cultivation of Talents in the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences and The Integration of Educational and Industrial Resources in the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. The first sub-project aims at promoting an interdisciplinary, modularized and customized curriculum for training students in the handling of the basic, intermediate, or advanced techniques in the use of big data. The design of the courses will be based on creating a learning environment that incorporates massive open online courses (MOOCs), co-instruction, and education-industry cooperation. A regional resources center will be established to promote the concepts of such cultivation of talents in the digital humanties and social sciences to other universities islandwide. The second sub-project, based on the concept of a sharing economy, aims at creating a foundation to support the first sub-project. Two platforms will be created. One is the platform of The Innovative Cultivation of Talents in the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences and the other is the observation platform of The Integration of Educational and Industrial Resources in the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. The first platform will provide instruction and self-learning resources and also network connections between instructors in different disciplines. The second platform will observe and analyze innovative developments in the digital economy from The International Conference on Big Data and The Student Forum and Competition of Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. The analysis will aid in grasping the prevailing worldwide trends in the digital humanities so as to ensure the direction and hence the leading status of The Innovative Cultivation of Talents in Digital Humanities and Social Sciences.
